I used to like Dragoon, now I’m not sure if I do.

After re-watching the Dragoon episodes, I legit became terrified that the writers are going to somehow turn Merlin into Dragoon to fit it into the legends where Merlin was the aged advisor to King Arthur. And old!Merlin gets the respect from Arthur only because he’s, well, old.

The dream Morgana had where she sees old!Merlin on the battlefield, convinced me we’re never going to get a magic reveal. I doubt this show is going to fast forward 40 years into the future we’re not going to see a 60 year old Merlin face-off against a 60 year old Morgana in a battle where a 60 year old Arthur is leading his army. There will probably be a huge battle for Camelot, Merlin transforms into Dragoon to turn the tide. Arthur gets mortally wounded. Morgana regrets the things she’s done. THE END

I ship old!Merlin/Gaius. They’d make a cute couple and have lots of cute banters.

The fact that Dragoon the Great was invited to help a friend made me realise that the show is about the magical relationship and friendship! And that there is a goodness outside and it will find you and help you!

I loved how the writers brought Dragoon on as an allusion to the typical old-man-Merlin that everyone thinks of when they think of Merlin, but now he’s just an annoying excuse for no magic reveal.
